The following letter to the editor is real; the signature has been omitted to protect the mostly harmless. Someone needs to tell this person that Star Trek is not real. Sure, it's fun...but not real.

Star Trek fan says
goodbye to Scotty
It was with a sad heart I
leamed of the passing of James
Doohan last Thursday. James,
as I've heard, was one of those
hard-working people that the
modern world either overlooks
or under-appreciates or just
plain ignores until he pas-
ses on and then there's a
general blase reaction while
life rushes on to whatever.
It took an excellent character
actor to bring chief engjneer
Montgomery Scott to life, and
we had James to thank for that!
Of course, you can't say
much without mentioning his
claim to fame - my favorite
"Star Trek" character; Scotty.
If Scotty were alive and well
[Note: Scotty never lived!]
and we were able to sit down
for a bite and a pint, I'm sure
we'd both be laughing at how
to relieve stress either in the
engineering section or my
auto repair shop by multiply-
ing our repair estimates by
four or likewise trying to figure
out who put the lunatics in
charge of this outfit and why
do they have to keep harassing
us just because we know what
we're doing? Or at least main-
tain a reasonable imitation of
same.
Doohan may have passed
on, and Scotty isn't on the TV
as much as he used to be, but
at my place anyway, Scotty and
Mr. Doohan will definitely be
remembered for a long time.
Too bad they beamed you
up first!

Of course Scotty lived! Don't you know that Star Trek episodes are actually documentaries from the future?

Yeh right, Matt. I forgot. Thanks.
: )
So, don't we have a temporal anomaly going on here? How can
they document what "will" happen?
I understand that with God that is possible...but Hollywood?

No, Matt. Star Trek is fiction. Now Babylon 5, on the other hand....

"Surely you don't think Gilligan's Island is real."
"Those poor people."

Um...don't question the will of the Prophets, the Vorlons know all! No wait, that is the Shadow, he knows. Um...I plead the fifth! The Hollywood sign made me do it.
